The purpose of our Occupational Health and Safety policy is to ensure the highest level of care for our staff and reduce the risk of aggravated injury to third parties. Weslo operates under the National Employment Standards (NES) and the Security Services Industry Award in the management of our teams. Successful management of health and safety in venues requires a commitment by Weslo Staff to provide a workplace that is safe and without risks to health. Weslo Staff is committed to this by adhering to the following:
Weslo Staff members are in continuous communication with their colleagues and therefore any risk or hazards can be reported immediately to management thereby reducing the risks associated within an unpredictable public workplace.
- Monitoring of health, safety and well-being of Weslo Staff personnel by supervisors and managers.
- The provision of personal protection equipment to all staff. The provision of water and broad brimmed hats, for example, to prevent heat stress and damage to the staff from overexposure to the sun.
- Ensuring that staff takes regular breaks.
- The provision of adequate resources to ensure the workplace is safe and without risks to health. Adequate resources ensure that things such as equipment are safe through proper and regular maintenance, WH&S issues are promptly addressed and employees are trained to carry out their tasks in a safe manner.
- Weslo Staff provides Hi-Vis vests for all staff to ensure easy visibility particularly in traffic areas and two-way radios to all staff to call for back up in potentially dangerous situations where violence or aggression may pose a threat.
- Weslo Staff’s OH&S responsibilities are clearly defined and we ensure that our personnel are not only aware of these responsibilities but are competent and adequately resourced to meet them. We facilitate this by providing a handbook to all staff members outlining their duty to take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety as well as that of their colleagues.
- Weslo Staff has an OH&S program comprising of a range of health and safety procedures to enable the workplace to identify hazards, assess risks and implement control measures to ensure the highest level of workforce health and safety. This program comprises efficient methods of hazard reporting, accident and incident reporting, emergency procedures and incorporates health and safety into job design and training.
