Weslo Staff Pty Ltd is undertaking a full review and re-development of its services, their standards and level of professionalism and to this end we are expecting our employee team to exceed our existing high level of competence and service delivery.
Weslo Staff Pty Ltd continues to be the South Australian premier supplier of specialist staff for a wide range of major events, at many major venues and deliver services to private functions.
Our senior management team has more than 20 years experience in providing event based services including a comprehensive range of Security Services and Event General Staffing roles within the South Australian sector.
The Event Industry generically is complex with both seasonal variations and across the spectrum of all days and hours of the week.
We do have peak periods where our employees may get a large amounts of work, but there are also times where there is no work available.
The business model going forward is to continue developing these existing business streams and grow the number of events on an annual basis.
However, Weslo management team is looking to develop and grow a wider range of services within our core organisational capabilities to further enhance employment opportunities, personal development and insulate from the seasonal variations.
As opportunities arise we are committed to training and re-training our staff.
The Australian Security Industry is currently being asked to review its operational standards and service delivery in the light of international activities, growing patron safety concerns and better outcomes.
To this end Weslo Staff Pty Ltd is re-establishing its baseline codes of conduct, personal presentation and overall professionalism for all staff irrespective of the role they play within the organisation. We are encouraging all staff to step up and deliver the highest quality outcomes of service delivery possible.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Employment Assignments
When you complete an individual employment assignment you cease to work for Weslo Staff. Each assignment is a separate work period and completing an assignment does not in any way mean that Weslo Staff will offer work to you again. Working a series of assignments does not mean that you will be offered regular on-going employment.
Staff Bookings
The Staff Booking Team has the responsibility to ensure whatever our client has requested is delivered on-time and in a completed manner. To do this they contact each employee via, email, text and/or phone call. The issues they face are:
The Staff Booking Team are working towards providing “Duty Statements” for all roles being booked. At this stage the major events have specific duty statements and others are being developed.
For each assignment you will be advised as to where and who you are required. Your Supervisor (if required) is your immediate report too and you are required to follow all instruction provided by the Supervisor. The Supervisor is the “go-between” yourself and the Client.
If you are unable to attend the assignment for which you have been booked or are running late, you MUST advise the Duty Manager as soon as practicable.

This is so we can arrange a replacement for you or if you are running late, so that interim arrangements can be put in place prior to your arrival.
These instances of change may result in your employment record being noted as such depending on the circumstances.
Sign On
All employees are required to “sign-on” on a timesheet this is MANDATORY and no other person can sign-on for you. Failure to sign-on may result in delayed or non-payment of you earnings for the assignment. Your Supervisor will record your start time.
On completion of your assignment/shift you will need to report back to your Supervisor, who will record your completion time.
This timesheet is the record of your work and provides the information for your pay to be processed and the invoicing to the Client.
Security Staff – Security Register.
Security Staff are required by law to complete the Security Register at each venue and each shift. The Register is held by the Supervisor.
All Security Staff MUST have their current Security License in their possession at sign-on and present same to the Supervisor for verification and keep in you possession for the total of the assignment.
Security Staff MUST have a current Security Agent’s License on their person at all times.
No license - No Start.
It is a Weslo Staff Pty. Ltd. condition of Employment that the Agent’s License must have the following endorsements:
For example Department For Communities and Social Inclusion with some Endorsements ie “Child Related Employment”
And some Venues require the undertaking of an assessment before being able to work. Ie completion of Workplace Health and Safety instruction.
Minimum Shift Duration
Apart from two minor exceptions, there is minimum shift duration of 4 hours for Security Staff. Minimum shift time for General staff is 3.5 hours.
However, there are events where the shift durations will be considerably more. For the longer shifts, you need to ensure that you have brought adequate food and drink with you as it may not be readily available at the site where you are working.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Weslo Staff maintains the highest standards in presentation of uniforms for all staff. There are official uniforms for:
Staff Managers
Security Staff – Corporate
Security Staff
The Security Staff uniform has two variations – Standard and Gold Polo, depending on the venue/function. You will be advised as to which uniform is required at the time you are booked.
Standard
Gold Polo
During cold/wet weather a Security Jacket can be worn, this can be purchased from Weslo.
Event General Staff
During cold/wet weather General Staff Jacket can be worn, this is purchased from Weslo.
Special Notes:
For specific events staff may be required to wear the clients requested uniform.
Specific safety apparel will be required when working in high risk areas.
You will be required to wear reflective jackets from time to time.
Supervisors do not have the authority to modify these uniform requirements.
Special approval is required to modify the uniform standards on an event by event basis.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE
Weslo Staff Pty Ltd MUST maintain a high standard of personal appearance. We are projecting the Premier Security organisation in South Australia and therefore the standards are high. We make no apology for insisting on these high standards.
All Staff MUST comply with thee requirements.
When you are working for us, you are doing so for a client. So not only are you representing Weslo Staff, you are also the public face of the client/event/venue. It is therefore crucial that your personal presentation be of a suitably high standard.
For Males this means:
BEHAVIOUR AND CONDUCT
As you are a representative of Weslo Staff and its clients your behaviour and conduct must be of the highest standards.
This means:
Supervisors have been instructed to report breaches of these requirements and will be recorded on your file.
Security Staff are expected to be firm, fair and friendly when dealing with irrational or aggressive patrons. Aggression towards patrons will not be tolerated, regardless of their behaviour.
Should a violent situation arise you can only use such force as is reasonably necessary to contain the situation. Never become involved in an aggressive situation unless you have back-up – call for assistance.
MISCONDUCT
Examples of Serious misconduct that MUST be reported include but are not limited to:
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
Weslo Staff Pty Ltd has a current Drug and Alcohol Policy and is available from the Operations Manager.
Staff reporting for work affected by drugs or alcohol will not be tolerated. Any staff member found working under the influence of Drugs and/or Alcohol will be removed from the assignment immediately, reported to the Supervisor and Operations Manager, a Mandatory Misdemeanor Report will be lodged and be subject to disciplinary action, including and up to immediate dismissal and no future employment.
Additionally, Security Staff are subject to drug and alcohol testing by the Licensing Branch of the South Australian Police from time to time. Failure to pass a test will be subject to disciplinary action as per above.
Security Staff failing these test may have their Security Agent's License revoked.
Those found working with illegal substances in their bloodstream may lose their license.
MOBILE PHONE REIMBURSEMENT
Weslo Staff will reimburse mobile phone call costs if their personnel phone is used whilst on duty in relation to work at hand.
WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY
Weslo Staff is committed to maintaining a high standard of health, safety and well being for all employees whilst they are at work. We recognize the importance of integrating the continuous improvement of health and safety into all organizational activities, ranking this equal with all other operational considerations.
It is our responsibility to ensure as far a reasonably practible that you are safe from injury and risks while you are at work.
It is also your responsibility to take reasonable care to protect your own health and safety at work.
PARTICULAR RISKS
There are a number of risks associated with working outdoors that all employees need to be aware of:
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Where required, you will be provided with high visibility vests, torches and radios.
IN AN EMERGENCY
You should make yourself familiar with the Emergency procedures at the venue you are working at. If you are involved in an emergency, contact your supervisor immediately. In assignments where there is no supervisor, contact the:
Duty Manager on 0407 600 033 to arrange appropriate assistance.
CONFISCATIONS
Some venues you may work at prohibit certain items (eg cans, bottles). You will be required to confiscate these items and deal with them as directed by your Supervisor/Venue Manager.
N.B. Confiscated items DO NOT become the property either of the staff member who confiscated the item or of Weslo Staff.
GIFTS
If you are offered a gift by a client as a thank you for your efforts, you must advise your supervisor. Your Supervisor will then confirm the gift to ensure that your interests are protected.
N.B. Under no circumstances are you to approach merchandise, food or drink suppliers at venues for free items. Doing so will mean Weslo Staff will take disciplinary action and at their discretion may not employ you again.
Under no circumstances are you to allow or cause to allow friends, colleagues or any non paying person into a client’s event. Doing so amounts to illegal entry and will not be tolerated.
RADIO COMMUNICATION
Two (2) way radio communications is used extensively by Event personnel. To ensure optimum use, communication needs to be succinct and clear at all times. Foul, improper or suggestive language will not be tolerated.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Weslo Staff does not insure your personal property and accepts no liability for its loss or damage. Any personal items you bring to work remain your responsibility.
STAFF PARKING
You will be responsible for your own car parking arrangements. However, there are a number of venues where parking is provided and you will be advised of this at the time of your booking.

- Non-confirmation of acceptance of an assignment;

- APPROVED TO ACT AS A CROWD CONTROLLER FOR PREMISES LICENSED UNDER THE LIQUOR LICENSING ACT; and

- It is also a requirement of Weslo Staff Pty Ltd that all Security Staff have a National Police Certificate, whilst an on-line certificate is acceptable at some venues/events there are those that require the full National Certificate.

- No smoking or eating whilst in uniform in the public eye;
- No chewing gum;
- No consumption of alcohol or taking illegal substances;
- Remaining at your post until relieved/rostered off;
- No admission of people who do not have the proper credentials or tickets;
- No disclosure of information, apart from patron/client assistance;
- No personnel mobile phone calls;
- No hands in pockets;
- No slouching and leaning against walls/posts etc.; and
- No standing with arms crossed.

- Prolonged exposure to the sun is the major cause of skin cancer. Your uniform, particularly the hat will provide significant protection. Sunscreen is also available for use.
- Though you have signed an indemnity agreement failure to comply with Weslo Staff OHS&W Policy may result in employment not being offered to you.
- In particularly hot conditions you could be at risk of heat stress. Ensure you have access to plenty of water and take your breaks in cool areas.
- Exposure to unsafe noise levels in the workplace can be hazardous for employees. Weslo Staff will provide ear plugs as required.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Where required, you will be provided with high visibility vests, torches and radios.
